常用比喻词like, as, as if, as though等,例如:

1、This elephant is like a snake as anybody can see.

2、He looked as if he had just stepped out of my book of fairytales and had passed me like a spirit.

3、It has long leaves that sway in the wind like slim fingers reaching to touch something.

1、German guns and German planes rained down bombs, shells and bullets...

2、The diamond department was the heart and center of the store.

1、The Great Wall was made not only of stones and earth, but of the flesh and blood of millions of men.

  句中的“the flesh and blood”喻为“the great sacrifice”(巨大的牺牲)

2、“...saying that it was the most beautiful tongue in the world,...”

4、Many eyes turned to a tall,20—year black girl on the U.S. team.

  这里的“many eyes”代替了“many persons”。

1、She may have tens of thousand of babies in one summer.(From“ Watching Ants”)

2、My only worry was that January would find me hunting for a job again.

  1、My blood froze.

2、When I told our father about this, his heart burst.

3、My heart almost stopped beating when I heard my daughter’svoice on the phone.

1、It must be created by the blood and the work of all of us who believe in the future, who believe in man and his glorious man—made destiny.

2、... Because good technique in medicine and surgery means more quickly—cured patients, less pain, less discomfort, less death, less disease and less deformity.

1、Several years later, word came that Napoleonyh himself was coming to inspect them...

  2、Al spoke with his eyes,“yes”.

Napoleon was astonished.”Either you are mad, or I am,”he declared. “Both, sir!”cried the Swede proudly.

1、On the root of the school house some pigeons were softly cooing.

2、She brought me into touch with everything that could be reached or felt——sunlight, the rustling of silk, the noises of insects, the creaking of a door, the voice of a loved one.

Well, of course, I knew that gentlemen like you carry only large notes.

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed and some few to be chewed and digested.

How and why he had come to Princeton, New Jersey is a story of struggle, success, and sadness.

(1)You are overwhelming jade, as white as snow, as smooth and moist as grease, as brilliant as candles, and as firm as rock.

(2)You are in my mind and in my heart. You are in the very air I breathe. You are part of me. Forever.

Free admission to museums

Nowadays, an increasing number of museums are open to the public with free admission. The reason for it lies in the fact that the government has been attaching great importance to provide more opportunities for citizens to explore and get access to the knowledge world.

However, the opener attitude of museums may also bring some problems as well. For one thing, with more visitors, there is possibility that displays of the museums can get damaged more easily. For another, it becomes a huge economic burden for museums to run as usual without any profits from the visitors.

As far as I am concerned, I am absolutely in favor of this practice. First and foremost, not worrying about the admission fees, ordinary people are allowed to enter the museums to enjoy the displays freely. Moreover, kids and teenagers can learn about knowledge in various domains in a more vivid and interactive way in the museums out of the classroom.

Free admission to museum

With the development of modern civilization, an increasing number of museums are open to the public for free. According to a national survey, over half of the museums in China have carried out this free-admission policy or are going to do so.

What is the aim of such policy? The goal is crystal clear. For one thing, more citizens can have access to museums and appreciate the history and culture. In addition, poor people have the opportunities to receive such free education and the whole quality of Chinese people can thus be improved. For another, free museum tours help cities draw more visitors from the world and also publicize the city image nicely.

However, everything can be divided into two. The negative aspects are also apparent. One of the important disadvantages is that some people may litter and spit in the museum and their bad behaviors affect the environment and museum management Through the above analysis, I believe that the favorable sides far outweigh its negative effects. I hope all the people can share the same national treasure in more free museums.

It is well known that a museum is a building to display a collection of artistic, historical, cultural or military objects. ndoubtedly museums can have a variety of purposes in the city; I think two roles the museums play can illustrate they areworth visiting.

Now we talk about how to fund a museum. A museum can never be considered as a financial burden to society. I suggest that the Government should invest a small amount of money on advertisements for the museums in the city. For example, ads of the museums should be forwarded on the travel brochures or maps of the city. Consequently tourists come and admission tickets are collected. Both reputation and funds are earned. Conclusion (23 words) In brief, museums should play a role as an instructive means of the city and incomes from admission can keep them running properly.

I think this view is not entirely right. In fact, the heart is, and I am disgusted with the poor quality of the people who go in, for example, make much noise and so on, but they can not be refused entry to the grounds. The scavenging or migrant workers or college students are able to enjoy the museum or the public service of ordinary citizens, we have no reason to prevent their entry or disgust. If the public needs to be improved quality, can we hope that museums and libraries as much as possible to facilitate such a body, the less expensive services for the public to enhance public scientific and human qualities, even if the beginning of the drawbacks of free will bring about a certain, but the long-term to stress is beneficial to the public.
In addition, the museum free of charge is another meaning, we are beginning to realize the public service should be for the public, and not become a source of profit. In addition to museums, libraries, parks and even public health services, public university education should be as much as possible so that more people have the opportunity to enjoy, instead of being the high cost of tickets, or to stop at the door.
